Today's album — Bad Liquor Pond's Blue Smoke Orange Sky.

Switching things up on this one, you'll find this one to be markedly less fuzzy than the normal albums on this blog. This is a pop-flavored psychedelic rock that would fit well alongside The Animals. Perfect for a laid-back kind of day.

Today's album — Palm Desert's Pearls from the Muddy Hollow.

This album has to be one of my favorites from recent memory. This fuzzy, psychedelic album had me hooked. Almost as gorgeous as the music itself is the colored vinyl… which you can still get (ONLY 2 remaining left to buy on their Bandcamp page at the time of this post).

Europe doesn't have complete control over the best psychedelic stoner rock. These Argentinians prove this with their self-titled album from 2007. I rediscovered this gem recently, and you should, too.

Hump Day Freebie: The White Soots – The White Soots

hump-day-freeb

You’ve made it through half of the work week! For that reason, you deserve a reward. What better way to reward yourself than with a new album? Better yet, a FREE album. That ought to make up for your week so far. Okay, maybe not, but it does make the pill easier to swallow, even if only slightly.

Today's freebie is: The White Soots's The White Soots.

If you followed The Soda Shop at all, this album may sound familiar. It should. This album was the #1 and #2 albums for Bill and I, respectively, for our 2010 top albums chart. 6 years later, and it still has a profound effect on me when I listen to it. It is one of those albums with staying power.

The album is pure raw, fuzzy, bluesy psychedelic rock. Like Bill describes them, take Led Zeppelin and early Black Keys, raise them in the south, and you get a good idea of how The White Soots sound.

Sadly, this is the first and only album they have. They broke up, and since then their bassist, Karl, has passed. Fortunately, the band and Karl live on through this album, and you can consume it free of charge.

As a bonus, I may have a couple CDs for anyone that wants them, just send me an email at jake@stonedsoda.com. Also, be sure to check out Kyle's current band, Salvadore Ross.

Bright Curse Release New Music Video

British heavy psych/stoner rock trio, Bright Curse have released their first music video for opening track of their debut full-length album, Before the Curse, released in May of 2016.

The video for "Lady Freedom" has a distinct theme, as the band explains:

[G]uitarist and singer Romain Daut explains "I started riding and following the custom motorcycle scene a couple of years ago and discovered some of the best people in the world; some of the most badass women – and that's what I wanted in this short film; amazing ladies saving our asses! With the help of Kingdom of Kicks in Hackney and Our Black Heart in Camden, we found those girls!"

The album is available for purchase on digital, CD, and vinyl. You can buy it directly from the band on, where else, Bandcamp. The video and Bandcamp widget are available after the jump.
